Do It Yourself - Science Workshop 


The Rotary Club of Coimbatore East in association with Sharp Industrial Training Centeris organising the JUNIOR EINSTEIN - Do It Yourself, Science workshop for School Children of the age group 12 to 18 yrs (class VI to XII) from 19th April to 01 May at the Coimbatore Club in Race course.  

The timing is between 9am to 1.30pm. This workshop promises to engage the Children productively during the summer holidays as it combines many practical science projects and field visits to make it highly interesting. To maintain very high quality standards, the organisers have invited leading professionals such as Doctors, Engineers and Professors in each field to teach the children so that the children will get answers to all their questions and are exposed to a variety of topics. All the faculty in this workshop have volunteered to teach the children because of their love for children and the cause of this workshop. 

This workshop is being organised for the 3rd year in a row. In the last 2 years more than 250 children have been benefited from this workshop. 

During the workshop the children are taken out to the following field trips to give them a better understanding of Science and its application in daily life. This year the children will visit and learn first hand about the functioning of the Airport Control Tower, the anatomy of an automobile at the Sharp Industrial Training Centre, watch the planets and moon through powerful auto tracking telescopes at the  Star Gazing evening & learn the techniques of extinguishing different kinds of fires at the Fire Station.


The organisers state that this workshop will help the child to identify his or her area interest as a variety of subjects are covered. The feed back they have received from the parents from the last two programs is that the children are showing high interest and 
involvement in science subjects.


Junior Einstein will also promote a Green message to the children - "This birthday give a return gift to nature by
 PLANTING A TREE!"


The fee for this workshop is Rs 10,000 and the early bird offer for registrations before 31st March is Rs. 8500. The amount will be utilised to cover the cost of the project materials which the child takes home everyday and to meet the organising expenses. This workshop is a not for profit program by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore East and the surplus amount will be used to fund the service projects.The organisers have arranged for sponsorships to offer this workshop totally free of cost to 20 deserving less privilege students from Government Schools and Orphanages. Eligible students with high academic performance can apply through their school for availing this sponsorship.
